Chalat Rajaram started writing poems in the 1970s which continued over the decades. Entering medical school in 1971, he continued writing while pursuing post graduate specialization in various parts of India, England and then in the U.S. from 1985. Poetry can speak to the readers in many ways relating to struggles in their own lives, can also offer meaning and hope. Chalat shares his quest for meaning, peace and happiness from everyday journeys, highlighting the search within. The experiences as a student, physician, as an educator, friend and family member are highlighted in the poems. The experiences through the COVID-19 pandemic laid bare human emotions, and new skills and tools to seek spiritual realization.
